Season 1: A Deep Dive into the Titan Shadows

The Day the World Changed

Our journey begins in the shadow of 2014’s "G-Day"—the catastrophic event in San Francisco where Godzilla first revealed himself to the modern world. For Cate Randa, G-Day wasn't just news; it was a trauma that left her haunted by the memory of a school bus full of children plummeting into the bay during the chaos. A year later, her life is upended again when her father, Hiroshi Randa, disappears in a plane crash in Alaska.

Traveling to Tokyo to settle his affairs, Cate discovers the ultimate betrayal: Hiroshi had a second family. Alongside her newly discovered half-brother, Kentaro, and a mysterious hacker named May, Cate uncovers a safe filled with files belonging to their grandfather, Bill Randa. These files are marked with the symbol of Monarch—a clandestine organization that has been tracking Titans for over half a century.

1950s: The Architects of Monarch

As the siblings dig deeper, we flash back to the 1950s to see how this all began. We meet a trio of pioneers: scientist Keiko Miura, cryptozoologist Bill Randa, and Army officer Lee Shaw. In 1952, they encounter the Ion Dragon in the Philippines, providing the first undeniable proof that monsters live among us. This discovery leads to the birth of Monarch, though the mission is quickly compromised by military interests.

In 1954, the trio watches in horror as the military uses the Castle Bravo nuclear test not to study Godzilla, but to try and kill him. Godzilla survives, fueling an obsession that spans decades. By 1959, the team’s research leads them to Kazakhstan, where a mission goes tragically wrong. During an investigation into an insectoid "Endoswarmer" nest, Keiko is dragged into a deep pit and presumed dead. Heartbroken, Bill and Shaw are left to carry on the legacy.

The Hunt for Hiroshi

Back in 2015, Cate, Kentaro, and May find a living link to the past: an elderly Lee Shaw, kept under house arrest in a Monarch-run retirement home. After breaking him out, the group follows a trail left by Hiroshi that takes them from the frozen wilds of Alaska—where they narrowly survive a freezing "Frost Vark" Titan—to the ruins of San Francisco and the deserts of Algeria.

In the Sahara, they finally find Hiroshi, who is using a Titan lure to summon Godzilla. But the reunion is short-lived as Godzilla erupts from the sand, leading to a chaotic confrontation that fractures the group. We also learn the truth about May: she is actually Corah Mateo, a corporate whistleblower on the run from AET, a tech giant that eventually rebrands itself as Apex Cybernetics.

Axis Mundi and the Ultimate Sacrifice

The season reaches its climax back in Kazakhstan. Shaw, convinced he can save the world by sealing the rifts between our world and the Titan realm, attempts to detonate the entrance point. In the ensuing explosion, Cate, May, and Shaw are sucked into the rift. They wake up in Axis Mundi, a surreal "world between worlds" where time moves differently.

There, Cate finds the impossible: her grandmother, Keiko Miura, still alive and unaged since 1959. For Keiko, only weeks have passed, while 56 years have vanished on Earth. To escape, they must use an old Operation Hourglass vehicle from Shaw's failed 1962 mission. As Godzilla battles the Ion Dragon near the rift, Shaw makes a heartbreaking choice. He sacrifices himself, staying behind in Axis Mundi to ensure the pod carrying Keiko, Cate, and May successfully returns to the surface.

The Skull Island Cliffhanger

When the pod finally emerges, the survivors find themselves not in Kazakhstan, and not in 2015. It is now 2017. They are greeted by a tearful Kentaro and Hiroshi at a research facility on Skull Island. But they aren't alone; the facility belongs to Apex Cybernetics, and as the alarms blare, a familiar massive shape looms through the trees: Kong has arrived.
